Here are some of the events we have attended in the
year 2011:
November 26 - Light Up
Louisville Parade - We
again showed up in style with 12+ vehicles all lit up in Christmas
lights. Major General Edward Tonini again rode with us in General
Spicer's lead Jeep. We made a real hit with the parade Judges,
as we won the "Sweepstakes Award" which is First Place.
A representative of the committee will be at our January meeting
to present our trophy.
November 11 - Veterans Day Parade in Louisville
- We will be the showcase group for
the parade. We will not actually be in the parade- the parade
will be passing by us at the grandstand. More info at the next
meeting.
October 28-30 - A
commemorative Black Hawk Down with retired Ranger Col. Danny McKnight
at MUTC - Butlerville, IN. They are looking for 3-4 late model
deuce and a halfs for the re-enactment. To see the video, go to:

October 8 - Tobacco Festival and parade-

October 1 - Harvest Homecoming Parade -
New Albany, IN
September 29 - Medal of Honor event - Louisvillen
September 17 - Ropkeys Armored Museum -
Crawfordsville, IN. A great swap meet.
September 9-11 - Lanesville Heritage Weekend
- Lanesville, Indiana. Also a very short drive. It is a 3-day
event in a static display. We were seen last year by tons of people
and also got some new members from it. Some of us even entered
our trucks in the Antique Vehicle tractor pull. The security there

September 10 - Crestwood Festival -
in Crestwood, KY. Remember that the Lanesville event is our primary
event, but for those of you who cannot make Lanesvile, try to
go to the Crestwood event. Contact Dell Courtney, the same producer
that did the "Light Up Louisville" event. Her phone

September 3 - Utica Town Parade - Utica,
IN - a nice long parade of floats going a very short distance.

June - CONVOY through Southern Indiana.
We will meet at the Howard Steamboat Museum. Se their website

for a map and directions, or email Bill Scott. We will meet there
between 9 and 10 AM. Then, we will travel to a lunch spot. After
lunch, we will be at the Bass Pro Shop in Clarksville for the
remainder of the afternoon. Please come and bring your family.
Cool beverages are suggested. Club shirts are the appropriate
attire.
July 4th - Parade in Madison. Actually
held on July 1st. Those Jefferson County people don't know what
a calendar is. I couldn't download the pictures from Tom Woodburn's

July 16 - Keeneland Concours d'Elegance
in Lexington, KY at the Keeneland Racetrack. This is a "highbrow"
event usually reserved for only extremely valuable restored cars.
We have been invited, as they are creating a catagory for restored
military vehicles, too. All military vehicles are invited to come,
whether restored or not. We will be kept together in a group.
If you do have a restored vehicle, you can enter it for judging
as well. Advance registration is necessary for judging. Go to

to complete your registration.
August 3-6 - MVPA National Convention -
to be held at the E.J. Nutter Center at Wright State University
in Dayton, Ohio. It is a great venue, and is very close to us.
Everyone should plan to bring your vehicle up there. There are
many classes in which you can enter your vehicle. Or, come to
visit. Registration forms available at www.mvpa.org.
-Plan now to make sure you get a spot and get a hotel room.
May 5 - Pegasus Parade We had 4 jeeps from
our club in the parade. They carried the Medal of Honor recipients
in them who were the Grand Marshalls of the parade. Here are a
couple of pictures.
 
May 28-28 - Patton Museum (The New One)

May 14 - Louisville Armed Forces Day Dinner
- Gen. David Petraes, Commander, U.S. Central Command, wasl
June 15 - Parade (funeral procession) to
the Veterans Cemetery at Fort Knox. We will meet at Fort Knox
where we will join the procession to the cemetery. This is to
bury the Veterans cremated remains (ashes) that were discovered
unburied at the Louisville Crematory.
June 26- Charlestown, IN Founders Day Parade.
A parade and lots of town festival booths, etc.Four vehicles from
our club, and a potential new member from Charlestown who owns
a 2.5 ton cargo truck.
July 5- Pekin, Indiana July 4th Parade.
It is the longest continuously running July 4th parade in the
nation. This year will be the 180th year for the event.
July 7-10- MVPA Convention in Topeka, Kansas.
Bill Scott took his 1943 Ford GTB Bomb Truck to compete in the
Master Class, but was unable to get a win. However, one of our
newest members, James Truett, of London, KY entered his M38A1
in the Restored class and won 1st place. Jerry Denny, and Mike
and Matt Brown also attended.
August 28 - Sellersburg Celebrates - parade
and static display after the parade. This is the home of one of
our founders- Charlie Ridenour.
September 10-12 - Lanesville
Heritage Weekend - Lanesville, Indiana. This is an event attended
by thousands. They specialize in old vehicles, tractors, running
antique farm machinery, truck and tractor pulls, etc. It is a
major event, and we will be the featured attraction for this year.
We had a great turnout for the event. We even got to enter some
of our vehicles in the antique tractor pull contests, but just
for exhibition.
September 17-19 - Ropkey Museum Rally and Swap
Meet - Crawfordsville, IN. Three days of vehicles, swapping
parts, etc. Visit the "New Home" of Bill Scott's monstrous
8-ton Russian Kraz 6x6 truck. It is in good hands now.
Oct. 2 - Harvest Homecoming Parade - New
Albany - We have attended for many years. Very well attended.
Bring all of your noisemakers (sirens and horns) so we can compete
with the others. We have 7 or 8 vehicles in attendance. One of
the largest crowds for a parade this year.
Oct. 16 - 100th Anniversary of the Boy Scouts
of America - Their Century Camporee to be held at Tom Sawyer
Park in Louisville. It will be the biggest event ever hosted by
our local council. There will be Boy Scouts fromevery Council
in Kentucky. Should be over 8,000 Boy Scouts in attandance. You
are welcome to come for Friday evening through Sunday noon. Most
will be coming for the day Saturday. If only coming Saturday,
you need to be there by 8 AM. After that time, the traffic will
be terrible.
Nov. 11 - Medal of Honor recipients event
- It was held at Whitefield Academy in Louisville. There were
only 2 of us there, but we were enjoyed by all of the 600 students
there.
Medal of Honor recipient, "Woodie" Williams was the
main speaker for the program. We attended as a preparatory event
of the 2011 National Convention for the M.O.H.resipients National
Convention which will be held in Loouisville.
Nov. 26 - Light Up Louisville parade -
We participated in the Light Up Louisville Parade in a grandious
form. 15 vehicles were present, with all of them lit up for Christmas
with many kinds of lights. It was an impressive site to behold.
We won the biggest award they
present, which is the"Producer's Award of Merit".
This award is presented by the producer of the event. They told
me that this award is not presented at every event they produce.
It is only presented when there is an entry that is so exceptional,
that it needs to be recognized. We got it!
